Life Is Better in Bikini

My last minute decision to visit Sóller’s outlet to the sea; Port de Sóller was quick and easy, simply because its nature as a picturesque little village stowed away from all the hustle and bustle was very appealing. An apparent change from what I’m used to here in London.

Settled upon a hillside in the west coast of Mallorca, and surrounded by the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, Bikini Island & Mountain Hotel Port de Sóller was to be my home away from home for my first ever solo trip and what a great choice it was...

With it being my first time in Mallorca, I had faith that the fairly new Design Hotel would play a big part in making my short stay on the Balearic Island a good one as soon I pulled up to its entrance with my super friendly driver.

It was easy it slip into the hotel’s bliss atmosphere despite the moody rainy weather that had greeted me on my first day.

I was pleased to open my room door and be greeted with a view overlooking the habour of Port de Sóller from the balcony that housed a cute little hammock and a set of wicket chairs. For someone who likes a good amount of space to move around freely, I was definitely content with the room size which was more on the cosy side (Bayside Plus room for reference). The little spots of Bohemian style decor around the room were a very nice touch, making the space somewhat fun and refreshing! The room itself is the perfect private retreat from the outside world when you really want to relax.

One of the highlights of Bikini Island & Mountain Hotel is without a doubt its creative interior design and overall concept. The mixture of design, art & unique handicraft by design studio DREIMETA all contribute to making the hotel truly stand out on the island.

At every turn there was something to admire so my camera was always at the ready. Being obsessed with interiors, I could very much appreciate the unique Bohemian and Mediterranean style decor that runs throughout it. The beautiful display of lanterns, wooden furnishings, multicoloured woven rugs, mosaic tiles, hanging plants, the general mix of colour and cool textures is definitely and eye full in the best way possible.

One thing I really appreciated during my stay was the super friendly and attentive staff. They were there to help at any given time and doing so with smiles on their faces. They seemed to enjoy each other’s and guests’ company which was nice to witness.

Food. Another favourite aspect of mine when it comes to this amazing hotel.

Every morning you can dig into a spread of Mallorquin to Mid-Eastern buffet style breakfast that will have you spoilt for choice and take in the stunning view over the harbour of Port de Sóller from the creatively styled roof terrace; breakfast with a view.

This is also the same location for Neni restaurant. The popular restaurant owned by the Molcho family, serves up a mesmerising and eclectic mix of both Israeli and local cuisine, that most certainly satisfied my hunger. I’d highly recommend trying their meat stuffed ‘cigars’ and chicken sharwarma, and it’s best to arrive on a very empty stomach!

The Pikkini Bar set up by the poolside was perfect for grabbing something light during the afternoons. You could find me propped up on a sheltered sun-bed, devouring a plate of hot wings with a side of sweet potato fries, sipping on a watermelon mint smoothie!

The Donkey bar is your go to spot for a good cocktail or two (maybe three?) and a great location to enjoy an amazing view of the harbour too.

From the outdoor pool stamped with its infamous floral peace sign, to the sauna, afternoon Pikkini Bar, Donkey Bar, Santaverde Spa, and every room boasting a good view, no doubt will you find it hard to leave the premise!.

When you do decide to leave (trust me, it’s hard), Bikini are at hand with services to make your experience on the island that much better offering activities to partake in around the village and providing free of charge services to Bikini guests such as car and bike rentals!

A stay at Bikini Island & Mountain Hotel is highly recommended if you are to ever retreat to Mallorca, as it makes for the perfect place to unwind, do you, relax and discover the island. As they would say, “Life is better in Bikini.”...

Big thanks to Bikini Island & Mountain Hotel and Design Hotels for hosting me on this special occasion. As always all images and opinions are my own.
