Boosting My Health & Wellness Routines
When thinking about how I want to live my life from this year on, the first thing that comes to mind is making sure I pay great attention to my overall health and wellbeing. There are so many factors that contribute to taking care of one's health and well-being, whether it be as small as taking your vitamins each day to, to as big as sweating it out at the gym 4-5 times a week. My main goal for this year is to feel good both physically and mentally, and hopefully, my efforts in doing so will transpire and stick to the everyday goings of my life for many years to come.
I've got to admit, last Christmas really took a toll on me! I've found that every December, it's inevitable that I will sink back into the routine of chowing down anything and everything in dear sight, not doing my hour of exercise every morning, getting 0 hours of sleep etc. These annoying little habits then follow you into the new year and you're sitting there thinking "Where did I go wrong?!". We're now in February and my usual end-of-year derail still has me feeling quite unbalanced. The clothes are feeling a little too tight–sweat pants are the only things that fit me right now (word to Regina George), my skin isn't as radiant and smooth as it usually is, and the energy levels are usually low most days.
With all that being said, it's time to whip my self back into shape and Boots have been kind enough to give me a little boost to help me on my way. As part of their #BootsLittleBoosts campaign, they want me to share the health and wellness routine I have planned for this New Year, and I'm more than happy to let you guys know all about it! It's all about rebooting my routines in order to shake off the excess of the winter festivities and embracing the year ahead with new vigour.
PAYING ATTENTION TO MY ENERGY LEVELS
How can one even get through the day with a lack of energy? How to get more energy? Well there are plenty of factors that help with that. Besides getting enough sleep, exercising, and healthy eating (which I'll be discussing further on), I want to really get into the routine of taking vitamins that will help boost my overall energy. I want to become more disciplined in giving my body the right vitamins, as it's so easy to forget to take them daily! I have however been trying Boots Pharmaceuticals Re-Energise orange tablets, and have very much taken a liking to them as they taste good and are more importantly packed with B Vitamins, Vitamin C, and Magnesium, which help to maintain energy levels and reduce tiredness and fatigue.
Exercise. You either it hate or you love it. It goes without saying that exercise is something that should be implemented into our lifestyles whether it be at a beginner, intermediate or advanced level. At the end of the day, getting into the routine of working up a little sweat a few days in the week is something our bodies will appreciate in the long-run. Laziness is what has stopped me from really getting into a real exercise routine, as I've tried many times before to create plans that work well with my weekly schedules, but give up after a couple of weeks. The goal is shake off the pounds that collected last year and maintain my weight thereafter, so right now I'm easing myself back into an exercise routine. I'm not a fan of gyms so I find working out at home 4 days out of the week in the morning works best for me.
I've always suffered from chronic digestive problems but have been guilty of ignoring what could trigger these issues. Having done some extensive of nutrition and how to better my health, I'm starting to get into the routine of making small changes to my overall diet has already made a difference to how I feel these days. Drinking a heck load of water, calming my sweet tooth by consuming pieces of fruits and nuts, eating more greens, cooking my meals from scratch, and drinking an immune boosting smoothie every morning are just a few minor changes I put into routine and have and are continuing to make a big difference to how I feel physically and mentally.
GETTING MORE SLEEP
Sleep has always been something that I take for granted, and I have only started to realise how crucial it is in helping to improve my overall health and wellness . Gone are the days that I'll try to survive days on as little as 4 hours of sleep, and wonder why I can't keep my eyes open throughout the day! I've definitely been enjoying tucking myself into bed before the next day comes by.
TAKING THE TIME TO WIND DOWN & RELAX
I would like to think that taking care of my wellness goes hand-in-hand with being that little more happier in life. These days I find myself not taking the time out to wind down, relax and spend time doing things that I love, such as reading, drawing etc (wish I could say cooking, but we're getting there almost). Little things such as pampering myself–running a hot bubble bath, slapping on a face mask, and lighting a scented candle is the perfect way to wind down after a long day.
