Dress Moments

Although spring has just sprung, the invites to those special summer occasions such as weddings, graduations, and summer parties are slowly but surely rolling in for many of you. I've joined forces with M&S to give my take on the ideal summer dress that can tackle a number of these gatherings. When it comes to searching for the right dress to take you from moment to moment, it's important to find something that works with your personal style as you want to look your best and most importantly feel confident whilst doing so!

To be honest, I'm pretty sure I haven't had as many dress moments as the next girl, as you will often find me in a midi skirt or better a pair of trousers when summertime arrives. However, things do change and I have been eyeing up plenty of dresses that will have me ready for any special occasions thrown my way.

WEARING:

Long Sleeve Shirt Dress

c/o M&S

When summer arrives, naturally dresses in bright colour, floral print, pretty pleats, and flowy silhouettes soon follow. Whilst I'm not one to shy away from all those attributes that contribute to a pretty dress, I do love a simple black number to flounce around in. As casual as a shirt dress may sound and look at times, it can be a staple in anyone's wardrobe when it comes to formal summer events. With this particular long sleeve shirt dress, I picture myself shedding a little tear or two as two love birds join in matrimony, or with a cocktail at hand dancing away at a formal summer party! For weddings, there's always the taboo of looking too deathly for such a special occasion–but for me, black works for any occasion! Let's not forget, shirt dresses come in pretty much any style, print and colour you could possibly think of, so the world is definitely your oyster.

There are many reasons why I'd always fall back on shirt dresses for a number of special occasions—they're light, airy comfortable to move around in, easily adjustable in the sense that you can play around with how much skin you dare to bare, and of course warm-weather friendly. If you're someone who prefers muted dresses, they do work as the perfect blank canvas for a spot of personalisation with more vibrant accessories, such as the orange clutch bag and spotted neck scarf I'm sporting with mine. I also added a tie belt for an extra feminine touch with the cinched waist, as I do find shirt dresses can be quite shapeless when worn buttoned up! My style is quite laid back with the odd surprise here and there, and this look perfectly sums it up!
