Festive Layering

The Christmas spirit starts to kicks in, the pre-indulging on masses of food and mulled wine begins, and the wallets loosen up a lot. The second best thing to online shopping for gifts is actually attempting to leave the warm surroundings of one's house, and setting off to the nearest Christmas market for a spot of gift shopping! Teaming up with New Look this festive season to share a few of my favourite Winter trends that make for the ideal Christmas market look. Well made stand-out coats are essential for Winter–keeping you extra warm but still looking the part wherever your feet may take you. The Puffer was once the fashion faux pas you'd find me succumbing to when the weather got really tough–you know, the last resort? Fling us forward a few years, and I've built up quite a collection with this Khaki dream included. It may be safe to say that the ultra cosy Puffer aka Winter saviour, has re-emerged as the fashion forward 'it' coat of the season–coming in all shapes, sizes, fits, and colours, they're bound to tickle your taste buds this time around, if not maybe next year? Whilst staying warm and looking pretty cool, you simply get the best of both worlds with a Puffer jacket–call it functional fashion.

What better way to carry on Summer's off-shoulder hype than to incorporate it into a Winter look, with a slip of the old coat? A flamboyant way to show off your layering techniques! Pretty frills and ruffles have transcended from Summer through to the cold season pretty smoothly. I do love an understated frill that can work with knitwear–take for instance this black turtle neck jumper quietly layered underneath a casual shirt for subtle and feminine detailing. Jumpers and cardigans are great for a layering. A fur stole is a great alternative to the basic scarf, always adds a little something extra to finish off a look. The black ankle boot is an essential for day-to-day outfits. A block heel detail provides a comfortable elevation to your step!
