As ready as I have ever been for the cold weather to come and sweep me off my feet, I soon found out that wasn't exactly the case, when I opened my front door the other day. Yep, the post office run can wait a few days, until I'm ready and excited again for what I initially thought was autumn, but more so resembles winter.

Well now that the days have become much cooler, this calls for the reintroduction to jackets and coats, ohh yeahhh. As a self-proclaimed outerwear hoarder, I am extremely happy that my babies can now come out to play, it's been way too long. There's no denying that I have an obsession, as my mum reminds me every time autumn/winter comes around, sad story.

When it comes to purchasing outerwear, I always prefer something that can do all the talking for my outfit. I mean most of the styles I own take up about/more than 60% of my body, they might as well look good and make a statement whilst doing so right? A statement jacket is pretty self explanatory, it makes a statement - whether it be because of its texture, shape, or colour, it stands out, and that's the power it. There also needs to be a sense of versatility that it holds, as you'd want to make the most out of your purchase!

Move over standard but highly essential to the wardrobe black leather jacket, we have a new competitor. Say hello to this oxblood beauty from none other than ASOS. An item I've been living in since I received it, as it works with most of my looks. As much as I do love a good old classic black leather jacket, my eyes never steer away from all the different colours they can come in, I'm still hoping to one day be a loving and proud owner of an electric blue and red pair, just waiting on it.

For all the Instagram users, you may (or may not) have seen ASOS' popular hashtag #AsSeenOnMe floating around for a while now. They are giving anyone the opportunity to have their outfits/looks shared on their #AsSeenOnMe page, so get to hash-tagging and sharing, or have a look for some imspiration!

What are your thoughts on statement jackets/coats? Something you steer clear from, or actually prefer to rock during the colder months?
